| | Healing Cocoon is an innovative multisensory healthcare solution developed during the European Project Semester (EPS) at ISEP in 2026. The project aims to reduce stress and anxiety experienced by children in medical environments by creating a personalized and immersive space that promotes comfort and emotional well-being. Healing Cocoon combines projection-based visualization, calming audiovisual content, ambient sensory stimulation, and a semi-enclosed structure to transform clinical settings into more welcoming and supportive environments. The design was guided by ethical, sustainability, market, and technical considerations, prioritizing patient safety, hygiene, accessibility, and ease of integration into healthcare facilities. By providing a controlled and adaptable environment, the solution seeks to improve the patient experience and reduce the fear often associated with medical visits and procedures. This paper describes the theoretical background of the project, the design process, and the development and testing of a proof-of-concept prototype. The results demonstrate the feasibility of using immersive technologies in healthcare environments and highlight their potential to enhance emotional well-being, improve patient comfort, and contribute to more human-centered healthcare experiences for pediatric patients. |
